What is the best Eventbrite alternative for a paid monthly community event?

Updated . Every fee re-read on each company’s own page that day.

For a paid monthly community event, SocialLoop is the best Eventbrite alternative when guests pay a membership, a ticket each month, or both: dues and every date’s tickets sell from one account at 5% on every plan, promoters are paid their commission automatically, and Set up as recurring creates the whole series. If guests only buy single tickets from people who already know you, Ticket Tailor (85¢ a ticket) or TicketSpice (99¢) cost less per ticket, at any price when the buyer pays the fees and from $20 up when you absorb them, and if strangers still find you on Eventbrite, keep a listing there.

On a $25 ticket with every fee included, Ticket Tailor takes $1.88, TicketSpice $2.02, SocialLoop $2.40 and Eventbrite $3.44. On dues, SocialLoop takes 5% plus the card fee and Meetup 7.5% + 50¢ plus an organizer plan from $29.99 a month. Rates read on each company’s own page on October 11, 2026.

Should guests buy a ticket each month, pay a membership, or both?

Guests buy a ticket for each event: which platform?

If the night sells ticket by ticket to people who already know you, pick the lowest fee at your price: on a $25 ticket, TixFox ($1.42), Ticket Tailor ($1.88) or TicketSpice ($2.02), all fees included. Choose SocialLoop ($2.40) when you also want promoters selling for commission, a contact list across every date, or a membership later.

Guests pay a monthly membership: which platform?

Compare the fee on dues, not tickets. SocialLoop takes 5% of each payment plus the card fee, members pay exactly the tier price, and paid members show a member pass with a QR code at the door. Meetup takes 7.5% + 50¢ and needs an organizer plan from $29.99 a month; Who’s In’s Clubs plan takes 0% on member payments for a yearly plan fee; Addmi takes 2%, paid by the member.

A membership plus tickets for each event: which platform?

SocialLoop, because both live in one community: paid tiers billed monthly or yearly, and a ticketed event for every date created with Set up as recurring. To hold seats for members, add a secret ticket tier and send members the promo code that unlocks it before public sales open. The fee is 5% on every plan on tickets and on dues.

Where do your attendees come from?

Most attendees come from my email list or socials: do I need Eventbrite?

No. If people come because you told them, any platform with a clear checkout works, and you are paying Eventbrite’s marketplace fee on buyers you brought yourself. Move the next date, not the one already on sale, and only email people who agreed to hear from you.

A mix of members and new people: what changes?

Keep one public listing where strangers can find the night, and give members their own way in. On SocialLoop the public event page sells to everyone, members pay dues in the community, and promoters you invite bring new people for a commission. Ask first-timers how they found you, so you know which channel to keep.

Most attendees find me online, on Eventbrite or Meetup: should I switch?

Not all at once. Eventbrite’s marketplace and Meetup’s group search bring strangers that your own list does not. Keep the listing there for the next cycle, sell memberships where they are cheapest to run, and measure how many new guests still arrive through the marketplace before you leave it.

Which platform has the lowest fee at your ticket price?

Worked at $15, $25, $75 and $100: all fees on one ticket, absorbed, from the same table as the rest of this page. A flat per-ticket fee weighs most on cheap tickets and a percentage fee on expensive ones, so the cheapest platform changes with your price.

What does “members only” mean on each platform?

On SocialLoop, a community event can be listed only inside your community for its members, or listed publicly. To keep seats for members on a public event, add a secret ticket tier and send members the promo code that unlocks it; anyone with the code can use it, so set its maximum uses close to your member count. Perks do not change ticket prices automatically.

On Luma, a calendar membership can unlock member-only tickets; non-members see those tickets greyed out.

Whatever the platform, say plainly what is public: the event page usually is, even when the tickets for members are not.

How do promoters get paid for selling the monthly night?

On SocialLoop you invite a promoter from the event’s Promote tab, set a percentage or flat commission for all tiers or per tier, and give their buyers a discount if you like. Commission is calculated on what the buyer paid after the discount: 15% of a $36 ticket is $5.40.

It is paid to the promoter’s own Stripe account automatically, at the later of 7 days after the sale or 3 days after the event, once they have earned at least $10 and SocialLoop has earned at least $5 in fees on their sales. It comes out of your ticket revenue, with no extra platform fee for running promoters.

The Free plan allows 1 promoter per event; paid plans allow more.

When should a monthly event stay on Eventbrite?

Stay on Eventbrite for the monthly night if a real share of first-time guests say they found it there. Ask your last 20 first-timers; if several say Eventbrite, keep the listing and point it at your own checkout, or run both for one cycle. The switching guide shows how to measure it.

Can I run a monthly community on SocialLoop for free?

Yes, up to a point: the Free plan covers 1 event per month, 1 ticket type per event and a community of up to 50 members, and the fee is 5% on every plan on tickets and dues. Paid plans raise those limits; they never change the fee.

How are these fees calculated?

Every figure is for one paid ticket in one order, bought with a US card, in US dollars, at each company’s published US rates read on its own pricing or help page on October 11, 2026. Each row links to the page we read.

Fees include everything taken from the ticket: the platform’s own fee, card processing and any service charge. Where a platform bills card processing separately through Stripe, we use Stripe’s standard US rate of 2.9% + 30¢. Where processing is bundled into the platform’s fee (Addmi, Posh, TicketLeap’s 3% transaction fee), nothing is added.

“Host keeps” assumes the host absorbs every fee, so the guest pays exactly the ticket price. “Buyer pays” is the checkout total when the fees are passed to the buyer instead; for platforms that bill Stripe separately it adds the platform fee and the processing fee on the ticket price, and the processor may charge a few cents more on the larger total.

Eventbrite’s US fee is 3.7% + $1.79 per ticket plus 2.9% processing calculated on the total order, including the service fee when the buyer pays it. SocialLoop’s figures are the live checkout’s: a 5% platform fee on every plan and 3.4% + 30¢ card processing; when fees are passed on, a 50¢ service charge and a $1 minimum platform fee per order.

Each fee is computed exactly and rounded to the cent once, at the end. Subscriptions, sales tax and currency conversion are not included unless a row says so. Rankings count only platforms any host can use with no subscription: Zeffy (registered nonprofits only), Luma Plus (a subscription) and prepaid Ticket Tailor credits are shown but not ranked.

What changed on this page?

  • Updated : Re-read every rate on each company’s own page. Added Ticket Tailor (85¢, or from 30¢ prepaid, read from its US-dollar price table), TixFox, Humanitix and Hi.Events to the fee calculator, and Addmi, Who’s In, TicketLeap, Posh and Zeffy to the comparison tables. Our earlier tables left Ticket Tailor out because we had not read its US-dollar rate.
  • Updated : Corrected our Eventbrite buyer totals: Eventbrite charges its 2.9% on the whole order, service fee included, so a $25 ticket costs the buyer $28.52 (we showed $28.45) and a $20 ticket $23.18 (we showed $23.11). Eventbrite’s fee on a $25 ticket absorbed is $3.44 (we showed $3.45, a rounding error).
